Haunted Ohio
Welcome to Haunted Ohio There are places in Ohio where history lingers a little longer. Old prisons stand silent beneath the moonlight. Forgotten tunnels echo with footsteps. Abandoned buildings hold stories that refuse to fade. Across our state, generations have shared accounts of unexplained voices, shadowy figures, mysterious lights, and encounters that still defy easy explanation. Welcome to Haunted Ohio, a signature series by Runa Emerald and Emerald Paranormal. This series was created for those who appreciate both the documented history of Ohio’s most intriguing locations and the enduring legends that surround them. Every feature will explore the people, places, and stories that have shaped Ohio’s paranormal heritage with curiosity, respect, and careful research. Here, you’ll find more than ghost stories. You’ll discover the historical events that gave these places their identity, the local folklore passed from one generation to the next, reported paranormal experiences shared by visitors and investigators, and my own reflections from locations I’ve explored throughout Ohio. I don’t claim to have all the answers. My goal isn’t to convince you that every unexplained experience is paranormal—or to dismiss the experiences of those who have encountered something they can’t explain. Instead, I invite you to walk these historic places with an open mind, an appreciation for their past, and a willingness to explore the unknown. One of those places is Gore Orphanage, where I experienced something that has stayed with me ever since. On a quiet evening, surrounded by the ruins and the stillness of the woods, I heard distant laughter. I stopped and listened, trying to determine where it was coming from, but I never found its source. Whether there was an ordinary explanation or something more mysterious, that moment sparked an even deeper fascination with Ohio’s haunted history. That experience inspired this journey. Each edition of Haunted Ohio will feature cinematic artwork, verified historical background, local legends, reported paranormal activity, investigation notes, and practical information for those who wish to visit these remarkable places with respect and curiosity. So, light a lantern, step into the mist, and join me as we explore the forgotten stories, enduring legends, and mysterious places that make Ohio one of America’s most fascinating states for paranormal history. The past is waiting.
